Program for 2008/9

 

October Sunday 5th Visit to see the stationary engines in under steam at Middleton Top and at Lea Pump House (meet at 2pm at Middleton Top, contact Peter Trewhitt on 01335 390 287 with an idea of numbers or if you need or can offer a lift – no charge)

 

November Wednesday 12th  visit to see a performance of “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” at Highfield’s School, Matlock (contact Rob Francis on 01335 390373 by Wednesday 5th Nov to reserve your tickets)

 

November Sunday 16th - a walk to Lud’s Church (the Green Chapel in Sir Gawain) led by Rob Francis (meet at 1pm at the Sycamore Inn car park, travelling there by car, let Rob Francis know if you would like a lift or can offer a lift – no charge)

 

November Tuesday 18th  – Committee Meeting – 8pm Parwich Legion Club

 

November Thursday 27th  A talk by Denis Laycock on post cards and genealogy (title to be confirmed) 7-30pm Parwich Memorial Hall (entry £1 members £2 non-members)

 

December Thursday 11th  Christmas Quiz with mulled wine and mince pies 8-30pm Sycamore Inn – all welcome

 

January Monday 12th  – Informal information sharing on the local history of Alsop en le Dale, Ballidon, Parwich & Pikehall – 8pm Parwich Legion Club (bring along any information, pictures or your memories to share, particularly relating to the First and Second World Wars – no charge)

 

February – Thursday 12th -AGM 7-30pm Parwich Memorial Hall (no charge, donations welcome)

 

March  Thursday 26th  A talk on the Archaeology of Bradbourne by Dr John Moreland of the University of Sheffield, 7-30pm Bradbourne Parish Hall

 

(Admission charges to all events in the Memorial Hall are £1 members and £2 non-members, other events are usually free though there will be a charge if any expenses are involved.)
